What is Equiss?

Equiss is a 3-day social justice retreat from May 28-30, 2008 for college students who want to understand systems of oppression, privilege, identity development, and take action to create a more fair and just world. Equiss is offered through Campus Activities and Leadership Programs at the University of Arizona to educate students on how to positively and effectively address issues of injustice, inequity, and inequality on campus and in the broader context of American society.

Overview of the Equiss Experience

Equiss will take place in Southern Arizona area near Tucson at a desert retreat center from May 28-30, 2008. Participants will have the opportunity to learn, explore, and reflect on issues of social justice within a community of college students from across the country. 75 students and 8 professional staff members will gather together for this experience. Participants will work in small teams, mid-size groups, and the full group for a variety of interactive activities and discussions followed by self reflection.
