Life is good with Campus Activities. Whether it is your first year at the UA or your fourth, there is something for everyone in Campus Activities: games, movies, comedy, service, employment, galleries…IT’S ALL GOOD! Get connected and graduate!*
"Students involved in out-of-class activities are more positive about their college experience, are more satisfied with their social life, living environment, academic major, and contacts with faculty, and are more likely to graduate than students who are not involved. In addition, students who were involved in college attribute some of their job success after college to participation in out-of-class activities." ( G. Kuh, J. Schuh, E. Whitt, & Associates,1991 )
Each of the areas of Campus Activities offers not only programs for our campus community but also the chance for students to be a part of assessing, creating, organizing, and implementing events of all scales. We also offer a vast array of student employment opportunities. If you are ready to apply your knowledge or build a new skill set, it is time to get involved with us!
Campus Activities at a glance:
Off-Campus Housing & Commuter Resources: study areas in the cool, air-conditioned Student Union, a courtesy phone for brief local calls, “One-Stop Shopping” resource center for information about university services and resources, computers for you to access email and the internet in the Commuter Student Lounge, and Kidz Korner.
Gallagher Theater: across from the food court in the lower level of the Student Union Memorial Center. Gallagher hosts a film series Thursdays through Saturday nights featuring films not yet released on DVD as well as special events, sneak peaks and the Board’s eclectic Film series.
Games Room: in The Cellar has 16 billiard tables, a snooker table, table tennis, and tons of cool new video games. Come visit our poker room where we have 8 casino style poker tables and clay poker chips. Why spend your late nights bored in your residence hall or sitting at home?
Social Justice Programs support, advocate, and educate the University of Arizona and greater community in the areas of inequality and social injustices found in our society. Social Justice Programs look at how socially constructed actual and perceived identities are formed, supported, and perpetuated over time and how we can learn from the distribution of power, privilege, and oppression.
Student Organization Resource Services provides leadership, advisor development and student organization recognition services for over 500 student organizations. It also offers a space for clubs to use as well as use of computer workstations and lockers. These resources are available when visiting the Center for Student Involvement & Leadership.
Union Galleries offer a unique collection that features a variety of media, which is on display year round. The Union Galleries have served the community since 1973 by exposing students and employees of The University of Arizona and off campus visitors to original art by student, regional and nationally prominent artists. The galleries heighten awareness of both current and ongoing issues and creative processes, which encourages open dialogue and personal introspection. Students are welcome to work directly with the Union Galleries Curator to gain experience in hands on gallery management.
