How Debit Meal Plans Work
Debit Meal Plans function as a dining balance rather than a set number of meals and provide flexibility without monthly meal limits. Just pay for what you eat.
Funds are loaded directly onto digital CatCards.
Charges apply only to what is purchased.
Balance can be use anywhere, anytime on campus.
Funds can be added to the plan at any time through the portal.
Important Details
- Debit Plans do not include Swipes or Guest Meals.
- Debit Meal Plans are billed to Bursar accounts.
- Funds do not roll over to the next academic year.
- Debit Plans cannot be substituted for required Swipe Plans.
- Debit Meal Plans are exempt from State Tax.
Who Should Choose a Debit Plan?
A Debit Meal Plan may be a good fit if students:
- Live off campus or commute
- Are an upper-classmen or graduate student
- Cook most meals and eat on campus occasionally
- Want to control spending meal by meal
Debit Plans are not available for students who are required to have a Swipe Meal Plan.

Debit Meal Plans can be used at more than 30 dining locations across campus, including:
Some Debit Plan funds may also be used at select off-campus locations when linked to Grubhub.

Need Help Deciding?
If students eat on campus occasionally or want maximum flexibility, a Debit Meal Plan may be right for them. If they expect to eat most meals on campus, a Swipe Meal Plan may offer better value.
